**Bengaluru Weather Update: Light to Moderate Rainfall Expected in Karnataka**
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall in numerous districts across Karnataka, including Bengaluru, over the next few days. With the Southwest monsoon now active, the city has experienced a sharp drop in temperatures accompanied by cloudy skies, which are expected to persist throughout the day.
Bengaluru woke up at 6:09 AM today, with minimum temperatures around 21°C and maximum temperatures expected to reach 25°C. The sunset is predicted at 6:26 PM. According to the weather department, the combination of rain and overcast skies will keep temperatures mild and pleasant in the city.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared a detailed seven-day weather report on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
*”Scattered to widespread moderate rain and isolated heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds across the state today. Rain activity is likely to decrease in the remaining days.”*
### IMD Advisory
Humidity levels are expected to hover around 91%, making the air feel damp, especially following rainfall. Residents should be aware that the rain may cause temporary disruptions in electricity supply. There is also a possibility of minor traffic delays and the uprooting of weak tree branches due to strong winds.
The weather department advises residents to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed during heavy rainfall to stay safe.
### About the Southwest Monsoon
The Southwest Monsoon is a seasonal wind pattern that brings heavy rainfall to South Asia, particularly India, between June and September. This period is crucial for the region’s agriculture and water resources.
The monsoon is characterized by a reversal in wind direction — during this time, winds shift from blowing from the sea to the land, bringing moist air that results in widespread precipitation.
