**Mumbai Fire Tragedy: FIR Registered Against Developer and Officials for Negligence**
Days after a devastating fire at the Janakalyan SRA building in Dahisar East claimed the lives of three women, including a 74-year-old, and injured 22 others, the Dahisar police have taken action. An FIR was registered on September 12 against the director of N Rose Developers Pvt Ltd, its contractor, supervisor, and other responsible individuals for allegedly causing death by negligence.
### FIR Filed Following Resident’s Complaint
The FIR came after a complaint by Mahesh Patel, 48, a rickshaw driver residing in Building No. 3, B-wing. On September 7, around 2:30 pm, when the fire broke out, Patel was at his third-floor home with his mother, wife, daughter, aunt Madhu Patel (53), and physically impaired niece Priya Ugrejia (24). He noticed smoke rising near the staircase duct and saw residents running in panic.
Patel rushed to evacuate his family. He recounted to police that Madhu and Priya ran out but slipped on the second floor and got trapped. By the time he exited, he saw both women being carried out by others. Tragically, both succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
### Police Highlight Fire-Safety Lapses
Authorities revealed that the accused failed to install or maintain critical fire-safety equipment. Moreover, the building lacked a separate electrical system to activate the safety mechanisms, leaving residents vulnerable during the fire outbreak.
Police officials have stated that the names of the accused will be made public only after the arrests are made.
