**Multiplexes Resume Bookings for ‘Jolly LLB 3’; Here’s What Happened**
*By Apoorva Rastogi | Sep 19, 2025, 01:30 PM*

The release of **Jolly LLB 3** faced a significant hurdle when major multiplex chains PVR and Inox halted advance bookings for the film due to disagreements over the Virtual Print Fee (VPF). Bookings were first stopped on Wednesday evening, then resumed on Thursday morning without a resolution. However, bookings were suspended again on Thursday evening, just hours before the film’s premiere.

Interestingly, even actor Akshay Kumar got involved in the discussions. The multiplexes felt justified in requesting a waiver since *Jolly LLB 3* is a 2025 release.

### Payment Agreement: ‘Jolly LLB 3’ Team Agrees to Pay VPF

Fearing a major impact on the film’s first-day collections caused by the halted bookings, the *Jolly LLB 3* team eventually agreed to pay the VPF. However, the producers made it clear that they are paying under protest and intend to continue discussions on this issue.

A multiplex official confirmed that the dispute was resolved around midnight, and bookings have now resumed to ensure a smooth release across India.

### What is Virtual Print Fee (VPF)?

The Virtual Print Fee is a charge imposed by major multiplex chains in India on producers or distributors, intended to cover the cost of upgrading their technology. This fee typically averages around ₹20,000 per screen.

Smaller cinema chains and non-2K theaters collect this fee through third-party digital cinema service providers like UFO, Scrabble, and Qube.

### The Ongoing Battle over VPF

The VPF dispute is not new in the Hindi film industry. In 2019, producer Ronnie Screwvala had taken PVR, Inox, Cinepolis, and Carnival Cinemas to the Competition Commission of India over the imposition of VPF. However, the CCI ruled in favor of the multiplex chains.

Despite this ruling, producers continue to contest the indefinite charging of VPF, arguing that it was meant to be imposed only for a limited time.

*Jolly LLB 3* is now playing in theaters across India.
