A man was recently booked for allegedly killing a stray puppy in Mumbra, located about 20 kilometres from Mumbai. A disturbing video of the incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media. The footage shows the man allegedly playing with the eyeballs of a dead puppy while its bloodstained body lies beside him.
The shocking visuals, which have now gone viral, depict the man sitting with the carcass, his clothes stained with blood, showing no remorse when confronted by onlookers.

### Shocking Video Shows Man Playing With Puppy’s Eyeballs
Eyewitnesses claimed that the puppy was killed by the man, although some locals suggested that the death may have been accidental. What has drawn widespread condemnation is the gruesome act of handling the animal’s eyeballs and the subsequent commotion on the road when he was confronted by an activist.
The video also features Muzna, an animal lover and activist residing in Mumbra, questioning the man about his actions. Police officials are seen at the scene as the accused shouts and resists.
### Initial Police Response Faces Criticism
The incident initially sparked criticism over police inaction. Despite the disturbing footage and witness accounts from locals, police officers reportedly dismissed the case and released the accused, citing him as “mentally unstable.”
Activists further claimed that the puppy’s body was discarded in the garbage without proper documentation.
### Activists Push for Justice
Following the incident, Muzna approached the Mumbra Police Station to formally lodge a complaint. She was supported by members of the Pure Animal Lovers (PAL) Welfare Foundation, including activist Heer Rajput, who submitted all video evidence, photographs, and witness testimonies to the authorities.
### FIR Registered Under Multiple Sections Including Animal Cruelty
After sustained pressure and follow-ups, the police registered an FIR (No. 1510/2025) against the accused. The case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 325 (causing grievous hurt) and 352 (assault or criminal force), along with Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
The investigation is currently underway, with activists demanding strict action to set a precedent against cruelty to animals.
