NCP MP Tatkare Responds to Rahul Gandhi’s Vote Theft Allegations in Karnataka

In a recent media statement, NCP MP Tatkare dismissed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft as “childish” and accused him of lacking understanding of election booth operations. The comments come after Gandhi raised concerns over an alleged attempt to delete voter names in Karnataka’s Aland constituency during the 2023 elections.

Tatkare told reporters, “This is a childish statement of the Leader of Opposition, he has no idea of the local or booth level.” He emphasized that the electoral roll is continuously updated and that suggestions and objections are taken into consideration even after the roll is published.

“Electoral roll is being modified all the while, and while it is published at a certain time, objections and suggestions can be taken,” Tatkare explained, according to ANI reports.

Further addressing Gandhi’s allegations, Tatkare highlighted the presence of booth and block officers from all parties at polling stations. He questioned whether Gandhi believed his own party workers could have been involved in any vote theft, given their presence during the voting process.

“Booth-level officers from each party are chosen. As per him, his people were present too. Does he believe that they, too, were involved in that activity? This is the question I want to ask,” said Tatkare.

Earlier, Gandhi had alleged an attempt to delete more than 6,000 voter names in the Aland constituency. At a press conference on Thursday, he stated, “In Aland, Karnataka, 6,018 votes, somebody tried to delete these votes. We don’t know the total number of votes deleted in the 2023 elections, but somebody got caught. It was caught, by most crimes, by coincidence. What happened was that the Booth Level officer noticed that her uncle’s vote had been deleted.”

The allegations have sparked debate over the integrity of the electoral process in the region, with political leaders exchanging strong statements in response.
