New Delhi: AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi Chief Minister on Saturday slammed the ruling BJP government over the repeated bomb threats received by the city’s schools.

In a social media post on X, Arvind Kejriwal expressed concern that despite the bomb threats occurring multiple times within a year, no suspects have been caught yet. He wrote, “Delhi’s schools are repeatedly receiving bomb threats. Panic has ensued everywhere, schools are shut down, and fear is spreading among children and parents… but in a year, no one has been caught, nor has any action been taken.”

Kejriwal sharply criticised the government’s handling of security in the national capital, emphasizing that parents are living in fear every day. “The four-engine BJP government can’t even manage the capital’s security. Parents are living in fear every day. When will all this end?” he questioned.

Earlier on Saturday morning, several schools across Delhi received bomb threats via phone calls. Among the targeted institutions were DPS Dwarka, Krishna Model Public School, and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya. As a precautionary measure, students and staff were evacuated from the premises immediately.

In response to the threats, police teams and bomb disposal squads were promptly dispatched to the affected schools. DPS Dwarka, one of the targeted schools, decided to close for the day and postpone the mid-term exams that were scheduled.

A circular from DPS Dwarka stated:
“Dear Parents,
Kindly note that the school will remain closed today i.e., Saturday, 20 September 2025, due to unavoidable circumstances. All school buses and private vans/cabs are being sent back immediately. Parents are requested to kindly be there at the stops to pick up their wards. Parents of private commuters must come to pick their wards in case they have dropped them to school. Mid-term exams scheduled for the day stand postponed. Fresh dates will be intimated shortly.”

The bomb threats have not been limited to schools alone. Colleges in various parts of the city have also been targeted. For instance, the University College of Medical Sciences in New Delhi received a bomb threat via email on September 9.

Following the alert, the college premises were evacuated calmly and efficiently. The Bomb Disposal Squad conducted a thorough search and cleared the premises by 1:30 pm, declaring the threat to be fake.

Additionally, the Maulana Azad Medical College and the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat reportedly received bomb threats on the same day. According to DCP Nidhin Valsan, the email sent to the dean of MAMC lacked specific details. Nevertheless, a bomb squad was dispatched to ensure safety.

These recurring bomb threats have raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in Delhi’s educational institutions and government offices, prompting calls from opposition leaders for urgent action.
