Earlier this year, Sifu developer Sloclap ventured into the world of soccer with their new game, Rematch. The title quickly became an early success for the studio, despite launching with a few initial issues. One notable drawback at release was the absence of crossplay functionality, which the team was unable to implement in time.
Fortunately, that wait is now over. Rematch is kicking off Season 1 with the highly-anticipated introduction of crossplay across all platforms. This eagerly awaited feature allows players on PC (via Steam or the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S to come together seamlessly. Whether for casual matches or competitive play, crossplay opens up exciting new possibilities for the community.
Alongside crossplay, the update introduces a new 3v3 Ranked mode, giving competitive players a chance to prove which squads are truly the best. Additionally, a new Season Pass will be available, featuring exclusive cosmetics and unique arenas like the frosty Iceberg and the fiery Volcano, enhancing the game’s visual and gameplay variety.
The absence of crossplay was one of the few negatives mentioned in Shacknews’ review of Rematch. However, the review also highlighted several strong positives, including the game’s fluid gameplay, immersive environments, and its high skill ceiling.
Rematch clearly struck a chord with fans of soccer, reaching an impressive milestone of 3 million unique players within its first week. With crossplay now live, the community is set to become even more vibrant and connected across all platforms.
