In a separate incident, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) recently issued a warning to Kapil Sharma’s comedy show, *The Great Indian Kapil Show*. The warning followed a celebrity guest’s reference to Mumbai as “Bombay,” the city’s former name.
MNS leader Ameya Khopkar took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a “request-cum-warning,” highlighting that although the city was officially renamed Mumbai over 30 years ago, the term “Bombay” continues to be frequently used in Bollywood circles.
This has sparked tensions regarding the use of the city’s name in popular media and added another layer of controversy surrounding Kapil Sharma’s show.
