Lockheed Martin’s subsidiary, Sikorsky, has been awarded a significant contract by the US Navy valued at nearly $11 billion. The deal involves the production of up to 99 CH-53K King Stallion helicopters, marking the largest order ever placed for this advanced heavy-lift aircraft.

Under the five-year agreement, the US government has the option to procure these helicopters either directly for the Marine Corps or on behalf of foreign military customers. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2029 and 2034.

The CH-53K King Stallion is a powerful heavy-lift helicopter capable of transporting troops, supplies, and equipment. It features three engines, each delivering up to 7,500 shaft horsepower, making it highly suitable for demanding military operations that require substantial lifting and transport capabilities.

In recent developments, Sikorsky also secured a $1.6 billion contract last month to deliver five Seahawk maritime helicopters and two jets to New Zealand. Despite these contract wins, Lockheed Martin reported a significant financial setback in July, with an 80% drop in profit. The defense giant posted a pre-tax loss of $1.6 billion, primarily attributed to losses from a classified program within its Aeronautics business unit.
