Vinodhini Vaidynathan, actress and Vijay’s co-star from the 2014 film *Jilla*, has expressed strong feelings regarding the actor-turned-politician’s entry into politics following the tragic stampede at a rally organized by Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

The devastating incident, which occurred on Saturday, claimed at least 39 lives and left more than 90 people injured.

**Questioning the Political Entry**

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vinodhini wrote, “I love Vijay sir, the actor. I worked with him in *Jilla*. So much love was showered upon him by the people of Tamil Nadu when he was only an actor. He was the undisputed leader of the film industry. Why oh why did he have to enter politics?”

Her poignant question reflected the confusion and sorrow many feel in the wake of the tragedy.

**A Personal and Emotional Plea**

Vinodhini continued, “My brother, I truly don’t know how you are going to handle this guilt. He is an extremely nice person at heart. The hate he is receiving now feels personal.”

She clarified that she refrained from commenting on Vijay’s political career or his party’s ideologies, emphasizing that her words were rooted in concern for Vijay as a person.

In a subsequent tweet, she added, “I think he should just not have entered the arena of politics.”

**Request to Mourn Respectfully**

Appealing for compassion, Vinodhini wrote, “But as a person, knowing him to be a mild-mannered, soft-spoken, kind-hearted human being, I’m sure he is truly devastated by the deaths of so many innocent people. Please don’t politicize this incident. Let us mourn the deaths of these innocent souls in deep sorrow. Let us not be consumed by hate. Please.”

**Celebrity Reactions to the Tragedy**

The devastating incident also elicited responses from other celebrities. Actor Vishal described the event as “heart-wrenching,” while director Pa Ranjith said he was “deeply shocked and pained.”

Actor Arun Vijay raised questions on responsibility, asking whether Vijay, the government, or the parents who brought their children to the massive rally should be held accountable.

As the community mourns, many are calling for unity and respect for the victims rather than fueling further political controversy.
