**Firing Incident in Sanjay Nagar, Malad East Leaves Man Injured**
A firing incident occurred early Sunday morning at 4 am in Sanjay Nagar, Malad East, resulting in a 55-year-old man being injured. The victim, Abtullah Baig, was shot by an acquaintance and subsequently admitted to JJ Hospital. Doctors successfully removed a bullet lodged in his cheek, and thankfully, his condition is stable as the bullet did not penetrate his neck.
**Accused Identified; Motive Linked to Property Dispute**
The accused, identified as Rais Shaikh, alias Guddu, aged 35, fled the scene after the shooting. Both men are involved in the real estate profession. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the shooting was triggered by a property dispute. Baig suspects that a woman named Shehnaz had allegedly given a “supari” (contract) to Guddu, which may have been a factor in the incident.
**Details of the Incident**
Baig, a resident of Kurar Village, was reportedly drinking and conversing with Guddu and another friend around 7:30 pm on Saturday when an argument erupted over property matters. During the quarrel, Guddu allegedly produced a country-made revolver and fired at Baig, who then fell to the ground.
Following the shooting, Baig was initially taken to DNA Hospital before being shifted to JJ Hospital for further treatment.
**Investigation Underway**
Residents alerted the Kurar police after hearing the gunshots. Upon arrival, police recovered an empty cartridge and secured CCTV footage from the vicinity. A case of attempted murder has been registered, and the police are actively investigating the source of the weapon, potential associates of the accused, and the full motive behind the shooting.
Authorities continue to search for the accused, who remains at large. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
