**Bombay High Court Directs NCB to Return Rhea Chakraborty’s Passport**

The Bombay High Court has ordered the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to return actor Rhea Chakraborty’s passport, marking a significant relief for the actress. Chakraborty was arrested in 2020 in connection with a drugs case following the untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
### Background and Bail Conditions
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested in September 2020 and granted bail the following month. As part of her bail conditions, she was required to deposit her passport with the NCB and obtain permission from the trial court for any foreign travel.
However, Chakraborty argued that this condition led to delays and resulted in missed professional opportunities. Her recent application, filed through advocate Ayaz Khan, emphasized that the confiscation of her passport was impacting her career adversely.
### Professional Requirements and NCB’s Opposition
Advocate Khan highlighted that Chakraborty’s profession demands frequent international travel for shoots, meetings, and auditions. He underscored that the actor has complied with all bail conditions and has never violated any court order.
Conversely, the NCB, represented by advocate SK Halwasia, opposed returning the passport. They cited concerns over preferential treatment due to her celebrity status and alleged risk of flight.
### Court’s Observations and Decision
Justice Neela Gokhale noted that similar relaxations regarding passport use had been granted to other accused in the case. She observed that Chakraborty had cooperated fully with the trial process, returning after every approved foreign trip without breaching bail conditions.
The court expressed confidence in her availability for the trial’s conclusion, stating that there was “no reason to doubt” her commitment.
### Conditions Imposed on Rhea Chakraborty
While approving the plea, the bench imposed certain conditions for Chakraborty’s travel:
– She must continue to appear for all trial dates unless excused by the trial court.
– Prior to traveling abroad, she needs to submit her complete itinerary—including hotel and flight details—to the prosecuting agency at least four days in advance.
### Current Status of the Case
Earlier in March, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted its closure report regarding the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The CBI concluded there was no evidence of foul play.
