**Aadhav Arjuna’s Controversial Post Sparks Outrage Following Deadly TVK Rally Stampede**
Aadhav Arjuna, a leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has ignited controversy with a now-deleted post on X in which he urged youth to revolt against what he called a “wicked government.” The post came in the aftermath of a tragic stampede at a TVK rally led by the party’s founder, Vijay, in Veluchamipuram, Karur, which claimed the lives of 41 people.
### The Tragedy at Veluchamipuram Rally
The stampede occurred during Vijay’s rally on September 27. According to reports, the rally, originally scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM with Vijay expected to speak at noon, was marred by delays. Vijay reportedly arrived only by 7:00 PM, sitting inside his campaign van for an extended period, which allegedly caused restlessness among the crowd. Following the tragedy, the police have registered cases against several TVK leaders and made arrests, including that of Mathiyazhagan, the Karur West District Secretary of TVK. Mathiyazhagan was found hiding in a house in the Gujiliamparai area before his arrest.
### Social Media Backlash: Arjuna’s Incendiary Post
Shortly after the stampede, Arjuna took to X to express his discontent with the government’s handling of the situation. His post read:
> “If the police have become the servants of the ruling class, the only way to restore order is a youth revolution. Just as in Sri Lanka and Nepal, the youth and Gen Z generation came together to create a revolution against authority; a youth uprising will occur here too. That uprising is going to be the foundation for regime change and the end of state terrorism.”
The timing and content of the post sparked widespread outrage on social media, leading to its swift deletion.
### TVK Distances Itself from Arjuna’s Post
Following the backlash, TVK officially distanced itself from Arjuna’s call for revolution. A party source told NDTV that neither the party nor Vijay had any association with the post or the notion of a revolution advocated by Arjuna. The source emphasized, “The party and Vijay will never instigate people or violence.”
### Political Fallout: DMK Condemns Arjuna
The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) condemned the post vehemently. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai criticized Arjuna for promoting revolution despite being entangled in political controversies.
He stated,
“A corrupt person caught in the clutches of the Enforcement Directorate is calling for a revolution. Is he dreaming that a revolution can be carried out by paying money and using 100 influencers?”
### Ongoing Legal Investigation and Arrests
An FIR investigating the stampede notes that the prolonged delay caused agitation among the attendees, contributing to the tragic incident. The first arrest linked to the stampede was that of Mathiyazhagan, underscoring the seriousness of the inquiry as authorities continue their probe into the matter.
