A Kylie Minogue mega fan has confessed that his devotion to the Aussie pop star has cost him the equivalent of a house deposit.

Sydney-sider James Traill, 45, says he has spent thousands of dollars on Kylie concert tours and related merchandise. Traill, who works as a barista, has also dropped big money on face-to-face ‘meet-ups’ with the 57-year-old hitmaker.

“I don’t like to think of the amount of money I’ve spent on Kylie tours and merch; it probably amounts to a deposit on a flat,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday.

The ‘VIP experience’ has been a booming global trend with promoters and artists for a decade, where fans can pay up to AU$5,000 just to get a selfie and a few moments with their favourite star. Traill told the publication that he had met Kylie “a few times” and it was “worth the expense.”

Back in 2018, cashed-up Kylie fans spent up to $1,800 for a package that included a ‘meet and greet’ with the *I Should Be So Lucky* singer during her *Golden* LP launch.

For her 2025 *Tension* tour, promoters on her Australian dates were charging up to $799.90 for the Padam Padam VIP package. It gave fans access to premium seating, exclusive merch, a pre-show photo opportunity, and on-site VIP staff.

Meanwhile, Kylie made a low-key surprise arrival in Australia on Wednesday. The music veteran looked chic in jeans and a beige jumper as she jetted into Sydney Airport. The singer kept a low profile as she walked through the terminal wearing a beige cap and glasses. She accessorised with a pair of white sneakers and held a cross-body bag.

Kylie showed off her ageless visage, appearing to be makeup-free for the flight, with her blonde hair worn out and natural.

This marks the pop star’s first trip back to Australia since February, when she impressed fans nationwide with her *Tension* tour.

The sighting comes after Kylie was recently forced to cancel her show in Berlin due to illness. The pop legend was struck down with laryngitis in June and had to cancel additional shows in Poland, Lithuania, and Estonia.

Laryngitis is inflammation of the larynx (voice box), often leading to a hoarse voice or loss of voice. It’s usually caused by a viral infection, vocal strain, or irritation of the vocal cords.

In July, Kylie took to Instagram after resuming the tour with a show in Finland to thank her fans for their support and understanding. She also confirmed that the cancelled shows in Łódź, Kaunas, and Tallinn would not be rescheduled on the current tour.

However, she did announce she was able to remount her cancelled gig in Berlin for July 4, after initially pulling the plug on the show ahead of its original June 12 date.

Kylie Minogue is the highest-selling Australian female artist of all time and the third best-selling in the UK. She has only recently begun to make a name for herself in the US following the success of her viral 2023 hit *Padam Padam*.
