The accident occurred near Janaki Raman College, where the woman was struck by a vehicle. She sustained severe leg injuries and was unable to walk. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no one initially came forward to help her due to the heavy crowds and traffic caused by the festival.
At this critical moment, Traffic Constable Jitendra Dubey displayed exceptional courage and quick thinking. Without waiting for an ambulance, he lifted the injured woman onto his shoulders and swiftly carried her to a nearby private hospital. According to a report by India Today, constable Dubey’s prompt action ensured that the woman received timely medical care, potentially saving her from further complications.
A police officer commented on the incident, stating, “Our staff are always instructed to be prepared to assist citizens whenever incidents occur.” He added that constables on duty are expected to stay alert, proactive, and self-motivated to provide assistance whenever needed.
“Traffic and police staff remain on duty day and night and are available on site to resolve any problem,” the officer was quoted saying by India Today.
