Oasis star Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has revealed that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be missing a portion of the band’s reunion tour as he undergoes treatment.

The legendary guitarist, 60, shared the news with fans in a post on X this evening. Bonehead revealed that he received the diagnosis earlier this year and is responding well to treatment. However, he will be absent from Oasis’s upcoming gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney before rejoining the band for their shows in South America.

In a statement, Bonehead said:
“Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour. Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America. Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”

Bonehead, who was previously diagnosed with tonsil cancer in April 2022, has been credited with helping reunite the Gallagher brothers. At the start of their sell-out tour, he was praised by Liam and Noel Gallagher, who confirmed he is one of the main reasons the band is back together.

An original member of the Britpop band, Bonehead has remained friends with both brothers over the years. A source previously told The Mirror:
“‘Bonehead is one of the few people they are both pals with and he has recently been trying too and it’s finally paid off.'”

Bonehead left Oasis in 1999 during the recording of their fourth album, *Standing on the Shoulder of Giants*, with an official statement citing his desire to spend more time with his family. In recent years, he has performed with Liam Gallagher.

In September 2022, the guitarist announced that he had been given the all-clear following his tonsil cancer diagnosis. He shared an update on Instagram, saying:
“Update on my cancer, I had a full scan 10 days ago, and it’s all clear, it’s gone.”

The post was liked by bandmate Liam Gallagher. Bonehead also thanked his doctors and nurses for their support, writing:
“Thank you so much all of you for the messages I’ve had throughout, you’ve helped me more than you know. Thank you especially to the team @TheChristieNHS, into recovery now and see you all soon x (sic).”
