**Mercedes-Benz India Reports Record Sales Surge in September Driven by GST 2.0 Reforms and Festive Demand**
New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of the German automaker Mercedes-Benz, has reported its highest monthly sales ever in September, marking a remarkable 36% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge is attributed to an overwhelming customer response following the implementation of GST 2.0 reforms, coupled with strong festive demand. Notably, over 2,500 cars were sold in just nine days during this period.
The company also announced its best-ever results for the quarter, with second-quarter sales reaching 5,119 units. Total sales volumes from April to September stood at 9,357 units, reflecting a year-on-year growth of approximately 4%.
Mercedes-Benz India highlighted that its Long Wheelbase (LWB) E-Class sedan and SUVs—including the GLC, GLE, GLS, and G63 AMG—achieved their highest monthly sales to date.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, commented, “Mercedes-Benz clocked its best-ever September sales owing to an overwhelming customer response following the GST 2.0 reforms, culminating in pent-up demand. Our attractive new portfolio and innovative financial programmes resulted in overwhelming demand for Mercedes-Benz cars.”
He further added, “The reduction in the GST rates has certainly improved customer sentiment at an appropriate time, especially as car prices have been increasing due to macro-economic challenges such as adverse forex movements and rising operational costs.”
The luxury segment, which includes the GLS, S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG G63 models, accounted for 25% of sales this quarter, representing a 12% growth compared to the previous year.
Battery-Electric Vehicles (BEVs) also showed significant improvement, increasing their market share to approximately 8% of total sales. The BEV portfolio grew by 10%, with the EQS SUV recording its highest sales ever.
The LWB E-Class continues to be the highest-selling luxury car in India, with the luxury sedan segment achieving a 47% year-on-year growth during the second quarter of FY 25-26, according to the company.
Mercedes-Benz India’s ‘Made in India’ SUV lineup includes the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS models, reinforcing the brand’s strong positioning in the luxury SUV market.
