**Move Gaza Talks Fast or ‘Massive Bloodshed Will Follow’: Trump**

United States President Donald Trump has urged negotiators to “move fast” ahead of Monday’s peace talks for Gaza, warning that “massive bloodshed will follow” if progress is not made quickly.

### Upcoming Gaza Peace Talks

Egypt is set to host the crucial talks between Israel and Hamas, with an Israeli delegation led by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer attending. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is also expected to participate in the discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict.

### Hostage Release Developments

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed hope for an announcement on the release of hostages held in Gaza “in the coming days.” Hamas has also declared its intention to return all remaining hostages, whether dead or alive.

The initial phase of Trump’s peace plan revolves around the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. However, the issues of Hamas’ disarmament and demobilization remain significant and contentious topics for future negotiations.

### Growing Global Support for Ceasefire

Calls for an immediate ceasefire have gained strong international backing. Pope Leo has appealed for a permanent ceasefire, while foreign ministers from eight Muslim-majority countries have urged negotiations to end hostilities.

Despite some bombings reportedly ceasing—confirmed by Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian as “some bombings have stopped”—no formal ceasefire has been established. Over the weekend, military strikes continued, killing at least eight people on Sunday alone.

### Ongoing Conflict on the Ground

The Israeli military currently controls approximately 80% of the Gaza enclave, describing the area as a “dangerous combat zone.” The peace plan’s first phase centers on exchanging hostages for Palestinian detainees.

A Palestinian official close to the talks told Reuters that success in Cairo will largely depend on Hamas’ willingness to accept Washington’s proposed withdrawal map.

### Proposed Withdrawal Phases

According to Trump’s map, Israel’s initial pullout would reduce its occupation of Gaza to roughly 55%. A second withdrawal phase would further decrease this to about 40%. Following the final withdrawal, the Israeli military would maintain control over approximately 15% of Gaza, forming a “security buffer zone.”

This aspect of the plan, alongside proposals for an international body to manage Gaza, are expected to be challenging issues to resolve. Senator Marco Rubio remarked that these points “will be a little more tougher to work through.”

As the talks approach, the international community watches closely, hopeful for swift progress that can prevent further bloodshed and pave the way for lasting peace in the region.
