Parents decide to get a kitten for their antisocial cat who hates everyone, and the senior cat makes a complete turnaround: ‘Things have… changed.’

Every so often, we come across cat haters on social media who perpetuate the misconception that cats are aloof creatures—that they don’t care about their humans and only tolerate us because we provide food. Of course, this is simply not true.

Anyone with even a remote understanding of cats knows that cats do love their humans deeply. It’s not even a question. However, it is true that some cats can be more antisocial than others. But that doesn’t mean they represent all cats.

Just like some humans don’t get along with others, some cats aren’t naturally social. These cats generally don’t dislike humans specifically—they tend not to like many beings. Only a select few people manage to break through their walls and soften their seemingly stone-cold hearts.

It takes a lot of work, persistence, patience, and the willingness to face rejection again and again. If there’s one creature in the world that embodies all these qualities, it is, without a doubt, kittens.
