**Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi Faces Setback as Jamnagar Court Dismisses Cheque Bounce Appeal**
Renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, known for directing acclaimed films such as *Ghayal*, *Damini*, and *Andaz Apna Apna*, has encountered a significant legal setback. On Thursday, October 15, the Jamnagar sessions court dismissed his appeal in a cheque-bouncing case, upholding an earlier conviction passed by the Special Negotiable Instruments Court in Jamnagar.
### Background of the Case
The case revolves around a loan of Rs. 1 crore allegedly lent to Santoshi by businessman Ashok Lal. To repay the amount, the filmmaker issued post-dated cheques of Rs. 10 lakh each. However, when Lal presented these cheques for clearance, they were dishonoured due to insufficient funds.
Following this, Lal approached the Special Negotiable Instruments Court, which ruled in his favor. Rajkumar Santoshi was convicted under provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act, ordered to repay double the cheque amount, and sentenced to two years of imprisonment.
### Appeal and Court Directive
Challenging this order, Santoshi filed an appeal in the Jamnagar sessions court. After reviewing the evidence and the prior judgment, the sessions court dismissed his appeal and affirmed the lower court’s decision.
The sessions court has now directed Rajkumar Santoshi to appear before it by October 27. The order further warns that failure to comply within this timeframe will result in an arrest warrant being issued.
### Current Status and Work Front
This case adds to the list of legal challenges faced by Santoshi in recent years. The veteran filmmaker, who has been a prominent figure in the Hindi film industry for over three decades, has yet to make any public statement regarding the latest ruling.
On the professional front, Santoshi is currently completing work on *Lahore 1947*, produced by Aamir Khan. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Sunny’s son Karan Deol, and others.
### Outlook
With the sessions court reinforcing the earlier conviction, Rajkumar Santoshi’s legal recourse appears limited unless he seeks relief from a higher court before the stipulated deadline.
