Welcome to another edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s WWE News and Rumor Roundup for October 16, 2025. Today, we’ll dive deep into why a veteran believes the company has managed to upset The Rock and John Cena, celebrate a new champion’s history-making moment, and discuss the continued decline of The Vision on the red brand. Let’s get started!

### #5. Major WWE Name Seemingly Out of The Vision
The Vision, once led by Seth Rollins, came to an end when Bron Breakker decided to forge his own path, offering Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman a spot with him. Both accepted, meaning The Visionary is no longer the head of The Vision on Monday Night RAW.
A few weeks ago, Becky Lynch helped her real-life husband retain the World Heavyweight Championship in France during a Fatal-4-Way match. Later, she joined the group as an on-and-off member. With Rollins out of the faction, it’s safe to assume that “The Man” is no longer associated with The Vision either.

### #4. Update on Seth Rollins’ Future Following WWE Crown Jewel 2025
WWE Crown Jewel in Perth was expected to be Seth Rollins’ big night—a chance to stand tall and earn respect from his faction and peers after defeating Cody Rhodes one-on-one. Although Rollins emerged as the new Crown Jewel Champion, it came at a substantial cost.
A high-risk coast-to-coast maneuver resulted in a shoulder injury, which has since stalled his momentum in the promotion. The multi-time World Champion is now sidelined, and sources indicate that Rollins will be forced to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship on the upcoming edition of WWE RAW.

### #3. The Rock and John Cena Are Upset for Several Reasons, Says Ex-WWE Writer
Earlier this year, fans saw The Rock and John Cena team up against Cody Rhodes heading into WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. However, just a day after their beatdown, The Rock quietly left the Stamford-based promotion, and John Cena was left to continue the gimmick alone for months—effectively ruining his retirement tour.
Speaking on *The Coach and Bro Show*, former WWE writer Vince Russo claimed that the company’s management, especially the Triple H-led creative team, managed to upset both The Rock and John Cena. Russo said this was due to dismissing The Rock’s input heading into WrestleMania and handling Cena’s retirement tour poorly.
“We’ve succeeded in pissing off John Cena and The Rock. Those are two very powerful people. And if I’m Triple H, those are the last two people I would want to upset. I’d be going out of my way to make those people happy because, let’s face it, those are the most powerful people besides him,” Russo stated.
It will be interesting to see who ends up as John Cena’s final opponent in December.

### #2. Ex-WWE Star Wants John Cena to Face Matt Cardona
During his retirement tour, John Cena crossed paths with several familiar faces in WWE. While the run could have been better booked overall, fans still got to witness Cena share the ring with some industry legends on his way out.
Meanwhile, Karrion Kross has expressed a desire to see Matt Cardona (formerly Zack Ryder) face John Cena in one final match before Cena’s retirement. Ryder and Cena last crossed paths over a decade ago and were involved in a love triangle storyline on Monday Night RAW.
Fans are hopeful for a final showdown between these two WWE veterans before December 2025.

### #1. Kendal Grey Makes History on WWE Evolve
Earlier this year, WWE relaunched Evolve as a developmental brand, designed as a breeding ground for future superstars, featuring names from the ID program. Recently, a special event called *Evolve: Succession* took place, showcasing a star-studded card and culminating in a historic moment.
During the show, Kendal Grey defeated Kali Armstrong to become the new Evolve Women’s Champion. Grey is the first person to defeat the inaugural champion for this title, marking an important milestone in the division’s history.
Armstrong has been prominently featured in the developmental brand and is expected to eventually move up to the main roster. This victory signals the start of Grey’s era as Evolve Women’s Champion.
