BOSTON (WHDH) — Former Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson is set to report to prison this Friday to begin serving her sentence following her federal corruption conviction.
Fernandes Anderson was sentenced to one month in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. In addition to her prison term, she was ordered to pay $13,000 in restitution.
She accepted a plea deal related to a city hall kickback scheme. Prosecutors revealed that Fernandes Anderson illegally hired two relatives, provided them with bonuses, and then pocketed thousands of dollars in cash in return.
