The son of the billionaire founder of the Mango fashion house has gone from witness to suspect in the shocking death of his father last year, RadarOnline.com can report.
Isak Andic was killed last December in what was initially reported as a tragic hiking accident. The 71-year-old founder of Mango and his eldest son, Jonathan Andic, 44, were walking along a popular path in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona when Jonathan claimed he heard the sound of falling stones behind them.
According to initial reports, Jonathan turned around just in time to see his father fall more than 300 feet off a cliff in an unfenced section of the trail. At the time, police ruled the death accidental.
### Investigation Shifts Toward Possible Homicide
However, inconsistencies in Jonathan’s version of events began to surface, prompting a deeper investigation. After a 10-month probe, authorities are now treating the case as a possible homicide, with Jonathan named as the main suspect.
Local police are currently scrutinizing Jonathan’s phone for potential evidence, including any deleted photos of the scene, call logs, and data on the exact location where the two were hiking before Isak’s death.
Jonathan claimed to officers that he was walking just ahead of his father when the rocks fell. Yet, sources close to the investigation suggest that his account may not align with forensic evidence gathered at the scene.
Among other discrepancies, Jonathan reportedly told police he left his car in one location, but it was later found elsewhere. He also denied taking any photos of the area, a claim later contradicted when photos were discovered.
Further complicating matters, Isak’s 52-year-old girlfriend, Spanish professional golfer Estefanía Knuth, informed authorities that “the relationship between father and son was bad.”
### Family Stands by Jonathan Andic
Despite the mounting questions, the family has remained steadfast in defending Jonathan. He was appointed vice president of Mango’s board shortly after his father’s death.
Family representatives have issued a statement saying:
“The Andic family has not commented, and will not comment, on Isak Andic’s death. It wishes to show respect for the ongoing proceedings and will continue cooperating fully with the authorities. The family is confident that this process will end soon and that Jonathan Andic’s innocence will be proven.”
