
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt scored a 31-24 upset over 10th-ranked LSU on Saturday, snapping a 10-game losing streak against the Tigers. The Commodores (6-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) recorded their first victory over LSU since 1990 in just the fourth meeting since 1947 where both teams were ranked in the AP poll.
LSU (5-2, 2-2) made several big plays, highlighted by quarterback Garrett Nussmeier throwing for 225 yards and two touchdowns, including a 62-yard strike to Zavion Thomas. Running back Caden Durham also broke free for a 51-yard run down to the Vanderbilt 2-yard line. However, the Commodores’ defense held firm, forcing LSU to settle for one field goal out of four attempts.

No. 12 Georgia Tech continued its outstanding season with a 27-18 victory over Duke in Durham, N.C. Safety Omar Daniels made a school-record 95-yard fumble return for a touchdown, sparking the Yellow Jackets. Quarterback Haynes King threw for 205 yards and rushed for a game-high 120 yards, including a decisive 28-yard touchdown run with 2:10 remaining in the game.
Georgia Tech (7-0, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) is off to its best start in more than 50 years. The team’s undefeated 4-0 start in ACC play is the program’s best since 27 years ago.

In Columbia, S.C., No. 14 Oklahoma defeated South Carolina 26-7 behind a strong defensive effort and steady offensive play. Quarterback John Mateer passed for 150 yards and a touchdown, while the Sooners’ defense sacked South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers six times.
Oklahoma (6-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) bounced back from last weekend’s 23-6 loss to Red River rival Texas. The Sooners used a combination of a balanced offense and one of the nation’s top defenses to secure the win against the Gamecocks (3-4, 1-4).
