Houston Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk has re-injured his hamstring during Friday’s practice, leading the team to rule him out for the upcoming Monday night game. Kirk had already missed the first two games of the season due to a strained hamstring. Before his latest setback, he had recorded 10 receptions for 109 yards over three games.
With Kirk sidelined, the Texans will rely on receivers Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, Jayden Higgins, and Jaylin Noel, who currently top the depth chart.
In other injury news, rookie cornerback Alijah Huzzie remains out with a knee injury. He is still working through recovery from a torn ACL sustained before the East-West Shrine Bowl and remains on the non-football injury list.
Defensive end Denico Autry, who missed practice on Saturday due to a knee issue, is listed as questionable for Monday’s game. Notably, Autry was a full participant in practice on both Thursday and Friday. Similarly, rookie safety Jaylen Reed is also questionable with a knee injury. Both Autry and Reed must be activated on Monday to be eligible to play in the game.
On a positive note, cornerback Tremon Smith returned to practice on Saturday after being excused the previous day for personal reasons.
The Texans will need to manage these injury challenges carefully as they prepare for Monday night’s matchup.
