The electric vehicle industry is facing a challenging period following new policies introduced by the Trump Administration that eliminate incentives for new EV buyers. As a result, one of the largest companies in the sector is preparing to carry out significant layoffs.
According to reports, the layoffs are expected to affect at least 600 employees, representing approximately four percent of the company’s workforce. Employees are anticipated to receive more information about the layoffs today, CNBC reports.
These job cuts come shortly after the government repealed a tax credit for EV buyers through recent legislation. In contrast, rival automaker Tesla recently set a record for vehicle deliveries, as many buyers rushed to take advantage of the EV tax credit before the expiration of the program.
