As Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was questionable heading into Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, his status has now become clearer ahead of the contest.
The Falcons’ plans for Penix likely changed over the course of the week, and it is expected that backup quarterback Kirk Cousins will take the helm against Miami. According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, Cousins is “highly likely to start” as Penix continues to recover from a bone bruise in his knee.
“ESPN Sources: Falcons QB Kirk Cousins is ‘highly likely’ to start Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins as Michael Penix recovers from a bone bruise to his knee,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter. He added that Penix was limited during practice all week, while Cousins worked with the first-team offense, preparing to lead the Falcons on Sunday.
