Multiple people have been arrested in connection with the theft of crown jewels from Paris’ Louvre Museum, a Paris prosecutor announced on Sunday. This development comes a week after the audacious heist at the world’s most visited museum.

The prosecutor revealed that investigators made the arrests on Saturday evening. Notably, one of the suspects was apprehended while preparing to leave the country from Paris’ Roissy Airport.

Earlier reports from French media outlets BFM TV and Le Parisien newspaper stated that two suspects had been arrested and taken into custody. However, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau did not confirm the exact number of arrests nor did she disclose whether any of the stolen jewels have been recovered.

The thieves executed the theft in under eight minutes last Sunday morning. The stolen crown jewels are valued at approximately $102 million.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for further updates.
