“Well, for a lot of reasons, I think,” she said. “First of all, she really cares about Billy.” Hope explained that Sally has grown to care deeply for Billy and his fight for what he believes in. “Sally sees herself in that.”
Billy left Sally to run Abbott Communications on her own after convincing her to work with him. Later, he also persuaded her to give him a second chance when she tried to break up with him.
However, Hope defended Sally’s decision to stay by explaining how it relates to her past. She described how Sally had a really rough childhood and always wanted the family and relationship she never had. The actress shared that she believes this history leads Sally to fight harder to save the people around her.
“When she was younger, she would lose them. I think it makes her even more of a fighter to want to save the people that she’s with. It’s just doubling down on really caring about someone, but also not wanting him to go off the rails,” Hope added.

“She sees the best in people,” Hope shared. “And she feels like she has some stake in the outcome if she can really invest herself into the relationship and possibly help and/or save them. So that’s a huge reason.”
