The US government has reportedly made another major deal with a leading tech company, this time with AMD. The US Department of Energy and AMD have agreed to a $1 billion partnership that will see AMD build two advanced supercomputers for the federal department over the next few years.

According to a report by Reuters, which cited a statement from AMD and CEO Dr. Lisa Su, the first of the two supercomputers is expected to be ready by 2029. This cutting-edge machine will assist the US government in various critical areas, including the management of the US nuclear arsenal and advancing medical research, particularly breakthroughs in cancer treatment.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that the partnership with AMD will accelerate technological growth in the United States once the project is completed. This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening the nation’s computing capabilities and supporting key scientific and security initiatives.
