The US government has reportedly secured another major deal with a leading tech company—this time partnering with AMD. The US Department of Energy and AMD have agreed to a $1 billion contract for the development of two advanced supercomputers over the next few years.

According to a report by Reuters, which cited a statement from AMD and CEO Dr. Lisa Su, the first of these supercomputers is expected to be operational by 2029. This cutting-edge machine will support a variety of critical government initiatives, including the management of the US nuclear arsenal and advancing medical research focused on cancer breakthroughs.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that collaboration with AMD will accelerate technological growth across the country once the project is completed.

This deal underscores the ongoing commitment of the US Department of Energy to leverage state-of-the-art technology in addressing national security and health challenges.
