**Senators Dominate Bruins 7-2 Behind Batherson and Stutzle’s Offensive Surge**
OTTAWA, Ontario — Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Ottawa Senators to a commanding 7-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Monday night, marking Ottawa’s third consecutive win.
Claude Giroux, Nick Cousins, and Fabian Zetterlund also contributed goals, while rookie goalie Leevi Merilainen made 26 saves in a strong redemption performance. Merilainen, 23, bounced back after allowing seven goals to the Buffalo Sabres in his only other start this season on October 15.
The Bruins struck first when Morgan Geekie scored on Boston’s very first shot following a defensive-zone turnover by the Senators. However, that would be all the offense Boston could generate until their final shot of the game, when Viktor Arvidsson found the net with less than 10 seconds remaining. Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 17 saves as Boston remains in last place in the Atlantic Division.
Batherson’s opening goal of the night came on the power play and knotted the score 1-1 midway through the first period. Monday marked the first time since February 2023 that the Senators have scored more than six goals in back-to-back games, following a seven-goal effort against the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
In a unique moment for Toronto fans visiting the nation’s capital, the Senators provided full broadcast audio of the World Series game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers during the first and second intermissions. Most fans chose to remain in their seats and enjoy the action.
**Up Next:**
The Bruins will host the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
