Yesterday, Samsung unveiled the brand’s first smartphone featuring a tri-folding display. However, the company did not disclose the device’s name, features, price, or availability details during the announcement.
Interestingly, Google may have provided some clarity on these aspects. In the latest version of the Google app, Android Authority discovered a list of devices eligible for free Gemini promotions, which includes a mention of “SAMSUNG_TRIFOLD_2025.” This reference confirms both the name and the expected launch timeframe for Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold smartphone.
Notably, the name does not include a ‘Z,’ contrary to earlier reports, but it’s worth mentioning that similar code strings for the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip devices also omit the ‘Z.’ Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that Samsung will name its first tri-fold phone the Galaxy Z TriFold.
Regarding the launch timeline, the “2025” in the device’s code strongly indicates a release within this year. Additionally, purchasing the Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to grant users access to a paid version of Gemini for free, following the precedent set by the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series phones.
These revelations, however, are not entirely unexpected. Samsung had previously confirmed plans to launch its first tri-fold display phone by the end of this year. Multiple reports from various sources have also pointed to the same launch timeframe and hinted at the device’s name.
According to these reports, the Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to debut in select markets including China, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the UAE. Unfortunately, it appears the phone may not be launched in the United States.
While there is growing clarity regarding the name and release schedule, detailed information about the Galaxy Z TriFold’s features and specifications remains scarce. We’ll have to wait for official updates from Samsung to learn more about this innovative device.
