While the most recent season updates for *Apex Legends* have brought exciting additions, sometimes it’s time for a change. For Season 27, titled **Amped**, Respawn Entertainment is taking a sledgehammer to the old Olympus map and updating it for an exhilarating new meta. But that’s not all players can expect.
The Olympus map originally debuted way back in Season 7, during a time when *Apex Legends* — like the rest of the world — was navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Designed as a sky-high map, Olympus brought a fresh verticality and excitement to the game. Now, five years later, Respawn is ready to breathe new life into its design with major updates.
### The Return of Olympus: A Map Reimagined
For players not fully caught up on *Apex Legends* lore, chaos struck Olympus after it collided with the Stasis Net on Broken Moon, causing the city to disappear back in Season 20. Eventually, Olympus was found buried in the snowy tundra of Pagos and restored to a workable condition.
In Season 27, players will find **four new points of interest (POIs)** scattered across the map:
– **Somers University**: Built by Horizon, this location replaces the old Orbital Cannon. Unlike its predecessor, which was less fun during early and late games, Somers University offers a more approachable exterior, additional cover, and a triangular layout to encourage dynamic fights.
– **The Gravity Engine**: Replacing the old Energy Depot, this area is the source of what keeps Olympus afloat. It features numerous lifts and ziplines, providing increased verticality and movement options.
– **The Stabilizer**: Taking over from the former Docks, The Stabilizer keeps Olympus aligned, but its exposed platform can lead to intense and harrowing encounters.
– **The Dockyhard**: Located near Hydroponics, this POI blends elements of the original Olympus with fresh vertical gameplay, creating varied opportunities for team fights.
### Legend Reworks: New Tools for Vertical Combat
With Olympus getting an overhaul, Respawn is also focusing on Legend reworks — particularly ones who excel in vertical combat.
– **Horizon**: Respawn acknowledged that nerfs were considered but ultimately decided to make her buffs more fun. Horizon now gets new movement tools that give her an edge during vertical battles. Players will also notice a shorter cooldown on her Gravity Lift Tactical, plus extra health for her Black Hole Ultimate.
– **Valkyrie**: Once the master of aerial combat, Valkyrie now received adjustments to keep her competitive. Her VTOL Jets and Skyward Dive Ultimate have been improved with increased speed boosts and reduced takeoff time, respectively. Additionally, her Missile Swarm Tactical has been enhanced to scan enemies on contact and no longer causes self-damage. New upgrades will affect missile patterns, fuel consumption, and further reduce Skyward Dive’s takeoff.
– **Rampart**: Known for her defensive prowess, Rampart’s Amped Cover Tactical now boasts walls with greater durability. As players level up during a session, her walls gain increased health, speed boosts, and even a roof. New upgrades offer benefits like regenerating health and infinite ammo for teammates behind Amped Cover. While these changes emphasize defense, Respawn believes they’ll encourage Rampart to stay mobile and support her squad more actively.
### Weapon and Movement Updates
Season 27 also introduces notable changes to weaponry and movement mechanics:
– The **Alternator** now features the **Double Tap Hop Up**, allowing players to fire both barrels simultaneously for increased damage. This upgrade can even result in one-shot kills at close range.
– An improved **Mantle Boost** enhances player momentum, enabling faster traversal across the map. A new visual indicator will assist players in executing this move more reliably.
### Olympus Comes to Wildcard Mode
Olympus isn’t just returning to the core Battle Royale mode — it’s also coming to the *Wildcard* mode introduced last season. The Wildcard iteration will feature extra ziplines, gravity cannons, and other additions designed to keep gameplay fast-paced and thrilling.
This new Wildcard version of Olympus will arrive as part of the **Supersonic Event**, running from **November 18 to December 16**.
### Get Ready to Fly Again
Olympus is ready to soar once more in *Apex Legends: Amped*. Season 27 launches on **Tuesday, November 4**.
