Glamours have long provided a fun and creative way for Final Fantasy 14 players to express themselves. By allowing players to overlay the appearance of desired armor onto their actual gear, glamours enable extensive customization without sacrificing stats. However, a significant restriction in this system is set to be lifted in the upcoming December update.
Square Enix revealed this exciting change during a recent Letter from the Producer video. In Patch 7.4, launching on all platforms in mid-December, glamours will no longer be restricted by level or job/class. This means that players can use any glamour they want on their armor, regardless of whether it matches their current class or level.
Previously, if you had a Lancer glamour for a chest plate, you couldn’t equip it on a Dark Knight’s armor. That limitation will be removed, allowing far greater freedom in customizing character looks. The only exception to this change applies to weapons, which will still have restrictions because allowing unrestricted glamours on weapons could cause mechanical issues and visual inconsistencies.
For fashion-forward players, Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4 is shaping up to be a highly anticipated update. This change complements other recent developments in the game, including a collaboration event featuring Monster Hunter Wilds. That event brought a wealth of new items, characters, cosmetics, and even the mighty Arkveld dragon to the game, enriching the overall player experience.
With these updates, Final Fantasy 14 continues to enhance customization options and engage its community in new and exciting ways—making it a perfect time to dive back in and experiment with your character’s look.
