Former President Bill Clinton appeared at the finish line of the New York City Marathon on Sunday, sporting a mysterious injury on his nose as he embraced his daughter and participant, Chelsea Clinton.

The 79-year-old ex-president, who experienced a health scare last year that led to hospitalization due to a fever and suspected dehydration, was seen with a bandage wrapped around the tip of his nose during his hug with Chelsea, 45, who has run several marathons in recent years. The cause of Clinton’s injury remains unclear.

Joining him to cheer on Chelsea was his wife, Hillary Clinton.

Earlier this summer, Clinton was spotted carrying a portable defibrillator bag while leaving the Hamptons, raising concerns given his history of heart problems.

Since President Trump’s return to the White House in January, Clinton has largely stayed out of the spotlight. Last year, he campaigned for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris against the Republican president. However, during the 2024 campaign cycle, Clinton took a somewhat active role by stumping for Harris in key states.

The Arkansas-born politician also delivered a fiery speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last year. He rewrote the address shortly beforehand after noticing the renewed energy within the party when former President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

Clinton has occasionally commented on major recent events, including the fragile Israel-Hamas peace agreement. Politically, he congratulated Democratic Socialist mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani on his primary-election victory in New York City in June.

In lighter moments, Clinton has quipped that he is still slightly younger than Donald Trump by about two months. He is also three years younger than Joe Biden and is the second-youngest living U.S. president after Barack Obama.

Despite his active public life, Clinton has faced several health challenges over the years. In 2004, he underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery to address blockages in some arteries that were over 90% blocked. A year later, he had surgery for a collapsed lung, and in 2010, he had open-heart surgery to clear a clogged artery and received two stents. Clinton was also briefly hospitalized during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A reporter from The Post recently spotted Bill Clinton entering a black van, flanked by multiple New York Police Department officers, underscoring the continued public and security interest surrounding the former president.
