‘2026 will be a blood bath’: MAGA says ‘warning signs are flashing’ after blowout losses

Republicans faced widespread losses in nearly every major election on Tuesday night, sparking growing concern among MAGA activists about what the 2025 midterm elections may bring.

In key gubernatorial races, GOP candidates were defeated by significant margins. In Virginia, Democrat Abigail Spanberger triumphed over Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears by roughly 15 percentage points. Similarly, in New Jersey, Democrat Mikie Sherrill defeated Republican Jack Ciattarelli by more than a dozen percentage points.

New York City also saw a notable race, where Democrat Zohran Mamdani secured a victory against former Governor Andrew Cuomo—who ran as an independent after losing to Mamdani in the Democratic primary—by more than nine points.

Meanwhile, California voters passed Proposition 50 overwhelmingly. This measure allows for new congressional redistricting maps that favor Democrats to temporarily replace current maps until after the 2030 Census. This passed despite significant spending from GOP donors opposing the initiative.

In response to these defeats, former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to express frustration that his absence from the ballot contributed to the party’s poor performance. He urged Senate Republicans to “TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER” and pass legislation aimed at tightening voting regulations. “Pass Voter Reform, Voter ID, No Mail-In Ballots. Save our Supreme Court from ‘Packing,’ No Two State addition, etc,” Trump wrote in a follow-up post.

The mood among MAGA supporters appears bleak following the GOP’s nationwide losses. Turning Point USA executive Tyler Bowyer echoed Trump’s frustration about not being on the ballot but also criticized Republican leadership for failing to invest in voter outreach. “When Trump isn’t on the ballot and you don’t make investments in chasing votes, you get voters who stay home,” Bowyer stated.

Former Trump campaign chairman and White House chief strategist Steve Bannon weighed in on his podcast, warning Republicans to take the night’s losses seriously. “The midterms start tonight, and the warning signs are flashing,” he said, noting that Democrats recently flipped two Georgia commissioners—their first statewide wins in 30 years.

Far-right influencer Mike Cernovich, known for originating the “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory, took to Twitter to express a harsher outlook: “Ted Cruz and Mark Levin are walking Trump into impeachments and then prison. 2026 will be a blood bath.”

Similarly, MAGA podcaster Jack Posobiec cautioned, “2026 will be worse if we don’t course-correct.”

As Republican leaders and supporters digest Tuesday’s results, many are bracing for challenging battles ahead in the coming election cycles.
