Indian Women’s star Jemimah Rodrigues’ father, Ivan Rodrigues, recently revealed the conversation he had with her ahead of the Women’s World Cup 2025 final. He shared how he motivated Jemimah by drawing an example from the Indian cricket legend, MS Dhoni’s attitude and willpower.

India clinched a historic victory by beating South Africa by 52 runs in the final held on Sunday, November 2. This triumph marked the Women in Blue’s maiden ICC trophy win.

“I only told Jemimah one thing — attitude. Your attitude is important. Why is Dhoni Sir a legend? Attitude. His calmness, his willpower, and his application on the ground to take the right decision and take the game deep. India went to the next level when Dhoni Sir came,” Ivan Rodrigues said.

He further elaborated by recalling the iconic India-Pakistan match in the 2007 World T20 Final. “Who did he give the last over to? Joginder Sharma. We thought Harbhajan had overs left. The attitude and approach that he has, if you have that, you can win any tournament.”

The Indian team’s journey to the final was remarkable, with a notable win against seven-time world champions Australia in the semifinal. Harmanpreet Kaur made history by becoming only the third Indian captain (across Men’s and Women’s cricket) to win an ODI World Cup.

### Jemimah Rodrigues’ Crucial Role in World Cup 2025 Triumph

Jemimah Rodrigues had a challenging start to the World Cup 2025 campaign. She was even dropped from the side for the game against England. However, she bounced back strongly with an unbeaten 76 off 55 balls against New Zealand. This crucial knock played a significant role in securing an important win for India and boosted her confidence for the rest of the tournament.

Her best performance came in the high-stakes semifinal against Australia. The Women in Blue scripted a record run chase, successfully chasing down a mammoth target of 339 runs. Jemimah led the charge with a scintillating unbeaten century, scoring 127* off 134 balls to seal the victory.

Overall, Jemimah Rodrigues ended the tournament as India’s third-highest run-scorer, amassing 292 runs from seven innings at an impressive average of 58.40 and a strike rate of 101.03. Her consistent performances were pivotal in India’s maiden ICC Women’s World Cup win.
