I’m Gerry Benson, a research analyst at Fidelity covering the U.S. banks. I have the pleasure of hosting Rene Jones of M&T Bank today. M&T is a community-focused banking franchise that provides retail and commercial banking, trust, wealth management, and investment services. Founded in 1856, it is headquartered in Buffalo, New York. As of September 30, the bank had $211 billion in assets.
Presenting today for M&T is Rene Jones, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Rene has been with M&T for over 30 years. Prior to becoming CEO in 2017, he served as Chief Financial Officer since 2005, where he led key functions of the finance division. Later, when promoted to Vice Chairman, he oversaw the growth of the company’s wealth and institutional businesses. Please join me in welcoming Rene.

So Rene, your last appearance to [indiscernible] was in 2023, I believe. It’s been a couple of years since then. I’m curious if you could walk us through some of the strategic work the bank has done over the past few years.
Since you took over as CEO in 2017, M&T has undertaken initiatives including balance sheet transformation, fee diversification, and technology transformation. Could you provide an update on all these initiatives?
