**Peloton Recalls Over 800,000 Original Bike+ Units Due to Safety Concerns**
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday that Peloton Interactive is recalling approximately 833,000 units of its Original Bike+ Model PL02. The recall comes after reports that the seat post assembly could break during use, posing a significant risk of falls and injuries.
According to the regulator, Peloton has received three reports of the seat post breaking and detaching during use. Of these, two incidents resulted in injuries from falls.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled bikes immediately and contact Peloton for a free repair. The company is offering affected customers a replacement seat post, which can be self-installed.
This latest recall follows a 2023 voluntary recall of more than 2 million of Peloton’s original model bikes, which were also pulled from the market over a similar seat post issue.
Peloton’s shares, already down 18.1% this year, fell by more than 6% following the announcement. The company has been cutting costs and reducing its workforce as part of an ongoing turnaround effort. To help offset higher expenses tied to tariffs introduced under President Trump, Peloton has also raised prices for its products.
In August, Peloton stated it would reduce its global workforce by 6% and warned that the latest tariffs were expected to impact its 2026 free cash flow by about $65 million.
