NFL legend Tom Brady made headlines on Tuesday when he revealed that his dog Junie is a clone of a “beloved” family pet, Lua, who passed away in December 2023. Brady shared this news alongside an announcement from Colossal Biosciences, a biotech company in which he has invested to advance genetic engineering.

Brady explained that Texas-based Colossal Biosciences created Junie using a blood sample taken from Lua, a pit bull mix, before she died. “I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family,” Brady said. “A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed.”

The announcement sparked reactions, including from WNBA star Sophie Cunningham. On her “Show Me Something” podcast with West Wilson (Timestamp: 12:00), Cunningham criticized Brady’s decision, saying, “I don’t have a problem with him, but he does some weird sh*t.”

Cunningham, who won the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup earlier this year with the Indiana Fever, added, “This is why rich people do weird sh*t, because they have f*cking money and they just find ways to do weird sh*t.”

Tom Brady’s remarkable NFL career spanned 23 years. He played 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, winning six Super Bowls, and spent three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading them to a Super Bowl victory in 2021. Brady retired from professional football in February 2023.

In addition to his seven Super Bowl wins, Brady holds several NFL records and remains a prominent figure in the sport. He is currently in his second year working as an announcer and analyst for Fox Sports.
