This 1971 Datsun 510 sedan features a powerful supercharged 3.3-liter Nissan VG33 V6 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. This engine swap was completed as part of a comprehensive build finished in 2019 by the current owner.
The refurbishment also included a fresh repaint in Mercedes Lunar Blue Metallic, complemented by hand-painted silver-flake graphics. Enhancements extend to exterior upgrades such as a steel chin spoiler, custom stainless-steel grille, fender flares, replacement one-piece bumpers, BMW 2002-style mirrors, and modern Dapper LED headlights. Replacement weatherstripping was installed during the restoration, though there are some noted rock chips on the front chin spoiler.
Sitting on 14″ basketweave wheels with black centers, this 510 is fitted with 195/60 Federal tires. The suspension system has been extensively modified with components including 280ZX front struts, four-wheel adjustable coilovers, JBC rack-and-pinion steering, FutoFab front suspension parts, and camber plates. These suspension components were powder-coated for durability and aesthetics.
Braking performance is enhanced with power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, featuring StopTech drilled and slotted rotors, along with stainless-steel flex lines. Please note, the emergency brake is currently not connected.
Inside, the cabin offers a blend of comfort and modern convenience. Power-adjustable front bucket seats sourced from a BMW M3 are upholstered in black leather, extending to the matching rear bench. The interior is further equipped with a custom center console, Vintage Air air conditioning and heating system, an Alpine CD player, and a premium sound system that includes tweeters, midrange speakers, and a subwoofer. Comprehensive sound-deadening material has been applied across the floors, roof, door panels, and trunk to enhance cabin quietness.
Instrumentation is centered around a four-spoke steering wheel framing Speedhut gauges, including a 120-mph GPS speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and a fuel level gauge. Additional gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer reads 3,600 miles, all accumulated under current ownership; total mileage is unknown.
Some minor electrical notes: the right turn signal does not self-cancel, and while the horn functions, the horn button is missing.
Under the hood, the supercharged VG33 V6 is equipped with an Auto-Wire wiring harness, a master battery disconnect, and twin electric cooling fans operated via a manual override switch. Power travels to the rear wheels through the four-speed automatic transmission and a rebuilt R180 differential. A full stainless-steel exhaust system complements the drivetrain, and the underside of the car has been treated with a sound-control coating.
This unique 1971 Datsun 510 sedan is currently offered in Prescott, Arizona. It comes with an owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name—ready for its next enthusiast owner.
