Paramount has announced plans to significantly expand its television output following its acquisition by David Ellison’s Skydance. The company currently operates two major television studios: CBS Studios and Paramount TV Studios.
In its first financial results since the deal closed, Paramount revealed ambitions to grow its TV production substantially. The company aims to continue producing and selling TV titles for both linear and streaming platforms, including its own services and third-party distributors.
“We anticipate a significant expansion of our total television studio output over the coming years, encompassing titles to be distributed both on our own platforms and licensed to third-parties,” David Ellison, Chairman & CEO of Skydance-owned Paramount, wrote in a letter to shareholders.
This expansion follows several high-profile deals, including a five-year agreement with South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, a four-year deal with Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers, and a first-look TV deal with Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple’s Iron Ocean Productions.
While there was little mention of Taylor Sheridan during the investor call, Ellison noted in his letter that the Yellowstone co-creator is currently working on Paramount’s Call of Duty movie. “While our contract with Sheridan will conclude at the end of 2028, we look forward to continuing our strong partnership over the next several years,” he added.
### CBS Studios and Paramount TV Studios
CBS Studios is behind popular CBS series including *NCIS*, *FBI*, *Fire Country*, and *Matlock*. It is also involved in Netflix’s upcoming remake of *Little House on the Prairie*, Apple TV+’s *Murderbot*, and the *Star Trek* franchise series.
Paramount TV Studios, recently restructured and now the streaming-focused division led by Matt Thunell, includes series originating from Skydance Television, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, Nickelodeon live-action, and Awesomeness. Key shows include Paramount+ originals such as *Landman*, *Mayor of Kingstown*, *Tulsa King*, and *Dexter: Resurrection*. The division also produces series for other networks, including Amazon’s *Reacher* and *Cross*, as well as Netflix’s *Emily in Paris*.
### Future Investments and Streaming Focus
Paramount also announced plans to make “incremental programming investments” exceeding $1.5 billion in 2026. These investments will cover the company’s stake in the UFC, Paramount+ Originals, third-party catalog licensing, and an expanded film slate.
Ellison described CBS as the “flagship asset” for Paramount and emphasized that streaming remains the company’s “top priority.” He confirmed increased spending on Paramount+ and highlighted upcoming content including the fourth season of *Mayor of Kingstown*, the new season of *Landman*, and the final seasons of *Yellowjackets* and *The Chi*.
With these strategic moves, Paramount aims to strengthen its position in both traditional and digital television markets, leveraging a diverse portfolio of content and partnerships to drive growth in the coming years.
