Valve has announced the Steam Frame, a new wireless VR headset that allows players to stream any game from their Steam library—VR or non-VR alike. The device is set to launch in early 2026 alongside a new version of the Steam Machine and Steam Controller.
The Steam Frame store page is live now, showcasing the headset’s various use cases and technical specifications. Valve compares the Steam Frame to the Steam Deck: a fully-fledged PC designed to offer a unique way to enjoy a wide range of video games.
Powered by a Snapdragon processor and running SteamOS, the Steam Frame supports both streaming VR and non-VR titles, as well as standalone gaming. To help players easily identify which games will run on the device, Valve is introducing Steam Frame Verification, a system similar to Steam Deck Verification that certifies game compatibility.
The Steam Frame will be available in all regions where the Steam Deck is currently offered. Interested customers can already add the device to their wishlist in preparation for its early 2026 release, coming alongside the updated Steam Machine and Steam Controller.
