It’s a big day for Valve as the company has revealed two new gaming devices: the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. Alongside this new hardware lineup, Valve has also introduced an updated version of the Steam Controller, designed for full compatibility with the company’s other products.
The new Steam Controller features a familiar ABXY button layout, a D-pad, and symmetrical analog sticks. Notably, the trackpads have been redesigned as curved squares and repositioned below the analog sticks. This design adjustment brings the controller’s layout much closer to that of the Steam Deck, which Valve says was an intentional choice.
This updated Steam Controller can be used to play games not only on the Steam Deck but also on the newly revealed Steam Machine and Steam Frame. It comes with a wired puck that acts as a transmitter, wirelessly connecting the controller to a PC or other device. For added convenience, the controller can be magnetically attached to the puck for charging.
Additionally, the Steam Controller supports Bluetooth and USB connections, offering flexible options for gamers to connect their devices.
