**Rockstar Games Faces Union Backlash Over Recent Employee Firings**
Rockstar Games is under scrutiny from gaming union workers following the recent dismissal of approximately 30 employees. The company claims these individuals were terminated for “gross behavior” and leaking confidential company material. However, the IWGB Game Workers Union alleges that Rockstar’s actions amount to union-busting.
In response, around 220 workers associated with the union have signed letters demanding that Rockstar reinstate the fired employees. The IWGB Game Workers shared details of its latest protests on its website, confirming that all 220 current Rockstar employees who are union members sent letters to Rockstar calling for the reinstatement of the 31 dismissed workers.
The union has also announced plans for further demonstrations in London and Paris, set for November 14 and November 18, as the affected employees continue to seek their jobs back. Rockstar Games, on the other hand, maintains that it acted appropriately and insists the firings were related to the unauthorized sharing of confidential information on a Discord server.
Nevertheless, the IWGB contests this narrative. Anonymous Rockstar employees, cited by multiple sources, have shared that morale within the studio is low and allege the firings were targeted.
Amid the controversy, Rockstar recently delayed the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 to November. While the company has not explicitly linked the delay to the union dispute, many believe that the ongoing turmoil is a significant factor in the decision.
Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops and both sides continue to advocate for their positions.
