Prithviraj Sukumaran delivered a rocking speech at the Globetrotter event held in Hyderabad, attended by notable personalities including S S Rajamouli, M M Keeravani, Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and others.
### A Heartfelt Tribute to M M Keeravani
Prithviraj began by expressing his gratitude to composer M M Keeravani for his exceptional performance on a theme based on his character. He shared,
“I’ve grown up listening to all the timeless classics you have made in Malayalam cinema. It’s an absolute honour to finally associate with you on a film.”
### The Legendary Rajamouli Narration
Recalling a significant moment from the past, Prithviraj said,
“A couple of years ago, while I was in the midst of my directorial venture, I received a surprising message from Rajamouli sir. It read, ‘Hi Prithvi. This is S S Rajamouli. The character of the antagonist in my next film has come out exceedingly well. It is one of the finest characters I have conceived. Would you be interested in doing it?’ I still have that message.”
He added with a smile,
“I replied nonchalantly, ‘Sure sir,’ but I’m sure he caught the excitement in me. A few days later, I sat in his office, accompanied by the most beautiful German Shepherd, as the famous S S Rajamouli narration — which my friend Prabhas had hyped about so much — began.”
“Just five minutes into the narration, I was blown away. Over the next three hours, I listened not as an actor on a pitch but like a little boy who has just gotten hold of a new edition of his favourite comic book! The scale, the vision, the ambition — everything represented India’s greatest contemporary filmmaking, pushing boundaries into never-before-seen territory.”
### Awe at Rajamouli’s Imagination
Prithviraj expressed his admiration for Rajamouli’s creative brilliance,
“But what truly took my breath away was the audacity of the imagination. How does someone think like this? Where does the inspiration come from to picturize something so grand?”
He teased the audience,
“Remember what I said about the first 5 minutes? You can hold me to that the day this film releases!”
He further praised the director,
“S S Rajamouli trusted me with one of the most complex characters — emotionally and physically — that he has ever conceived. Thank you, sir, for your trust, belief, and the absolutely torturous process! Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
### Praising Superstar Mahesh Babu
Turning to Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj remarked,
“If memory serves right, the first Telugu film I ever watched in a theatre was *Pokiri* (2006). Since then, watching how you have embraced your heritage and built your legacy has been truly inspiring. For the superstar you are, you truly deserve this film, and this film truly deserves you!”
### Admiring Priyanka Chopra’s Performance
Prithviraj shared his admiration for Priyanka Chopra as well,
“I have always been a big, big fan of PC. Jhilmil from *Barfi!* (2012) is one of the greatest Indian performances ever! It’s a privilege to witness your transformation into Mandakini from such close quarters.”
### Moving Indian Cinema Forward
Concluding his speech, Prithviraj said,
“This is S S Rajamouli once again taking Indian cinema to the world — bigger, hopefully better, and definitely more audacious than ever before.”
