Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left Sunday’s game against the Bengals with a left wrist injury. He didn’t take another snap, and head coach Mike Tomlin said Rodgers would be evaluated further on Monday.

Rodgers appeared to get hurt on the final drive of the second quarter. After being hit by Bengals defensive end Joseph Ossai—who was flagged for roughing the passer—Rodgers was seen holding his left hand and grimacing in pain. That Packers drive ended with a 25-yard field goal, which gave the Steelers a 10-6 lead at halftime. However, Rodgers headed to the locker room before the second quarter officially ended.

Backing up Rodgers, Mason Rudolph started the second half under center while Rodgers underwent additional screening. At the beginning of the third quarter, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins that he was “hopeful” Rodgers would return at some point in the second half. In the meantime, Tomlin emphasized the importance of being ready for Mason Rudolph to play, saying, “We better get Mason Rudolph ready to go.”

At 41 years old, Aaron Rodgers is the NFL’s oldest starting quarterback. The Bengals’ Joe Flacco, 40, is the second oldest. Before his exit, Rodgers completed nine of 15 pass attempts for 116 yards and one touchdown.

Rodgers signed a one-year contract with the Steelers this past offseason after being released by the Jets in March. Following their 34-12 victory over the Bengals, the Steelers improved their record to 6-4.
