In an interview with Variety, the longtime child actress shared, “I don’t like labels, I guess,” adding, “I could go Brad, I could go Angelina.” She admitted that she initially said this to “make [her co-stars] laugh,” but many interpreted it as a hint that she might identify as bisexual.
Richards, who is 56, commented further, “I think people can think whatever they want. I always had a type, tall, dark and handsome, and that’s what I married,” referring to her ex-husband, Maurico Umansky. She went on to say, “I am growing and evolving, and my mind has opened up. So I don’t know. I don’t know what the future holds now, and I’m fine with that.”
When Variety reporters pointed out that both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are lesbians, Richards responded with a laugh, “Ha! That would never have crossed my mind before, ever in my life and now I’m like, that’s totally an option.” She continued, “I’m just here to see what life brings me, honestly. I don’t want to be set up with anybody. Whatever happens, happens, and I’m good with that. I like hanging out with myself alone too.”
Adding fuel to the speculation, Richards and Morgan Wade shared a kiss in a music video. Richards’ co-stars have expressed that they believed the two women were in a relationship and that Richards preferred to keep her sexuality private.
Kathy Hilton, Richards’ sister, has been supportive of her and Wade’s relationship, whether platonic or romantic. The bond between Richards and Wade is further highlighted by the fact that they even have matching tattoos.
