Spoilers below. Helen Webb-or, shall we say, Daisy Bradshaw?-isn’t done keeping secrets. As the first season of the Keira Knightley-led spy thriller Black Doves rings in the holidays with carols and a side of conspiracies, Netflix is already preparing for the series’s future beyond the Advent season. And with Knightley’s Helen poised to become an even bigger asset to the secretive Black Doves organization moving forward, we can expect the threats on her life won’t end any time soon. As for season 2, here’s what little we know so far. Will there be a season 2 of Black Doves? Yes, indeed. Black Doves was, in fact, preemptively renewed for a second season before its first had even dropped on the platform. During the Edinburgh TV Festival in August 2024, Netflix shared that the show would return for season 2. What will season 2 of Black Doves be about? Without getting deep into spoiler territory, we can surmise that-thanks to the political ascendance of Helen’s husband, Wallace Webb (Andrew Buchan)-Helen (Knightley) herself will have some huge government secrets to carry in season 2. But whether she chooses to turn those secrets over to the Black Doves remains something of a question mark, her loyalties having been tested in season 1 by the enigmatic Mrs. Webb. Then, of course, there’s the fallout of the season finale to be considered: Helen and her triggerman friend, Sam Young (Ben Whishaw), wreak a lot of havoc against members of a certain crime family, and it’s unlikely Black Doves will consider that family’s saga closed. After all, what better motivates bloodshed than revenge? And with Sam now working for a former enemy, there’s plenty of drama left to spur the gunfights. Might Helen and Sam finally find peace, safety, and solace? Probably not, but a fan can dream! Who will be in the Black Doves season 2 cast? Expect Knightley and Ben Whishaw to return as the series’s grounding force and dynamic duo. (Their chemistry is the show’s greatest selling point.) Alongside them, returning cast members also include Sarah Lancashire (Reed), Kathryn Hunter (Lenny Lines), Ella Lily Hyland (Williams), Gabrielle Creevy (Eleanor), Agnes O’Casey (Dani), and Molly Chesworth (Marie). Season 2 will also have some new additions, per Netflix. Ambika Mod (One Day) will play Laila, “an acerbic and anarchic Black Doves agent sent to help Helen on a mission;” Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) will play Mr. When will season 2 of Black Doves come out? We don’t have a clue just yet. If Black Doves decides to retain its ironic holiday theme, it’s possible we could see another round of the drama arrive in December 2026-but, for now, that’s simply a Christmas wish. Has production started yet? Yes. In November 2025, Netflix announced that filming was officially underway “in and around” London. Is there a trailer for Black Doves season 2? In December 2024, Netflix shared a teaser for season 2, in which Knightley meets with Whishaw in a bar and wishes him a Merry Christmas. They raise champagne glasses and Knightley says, “Here’s to Black Doves season 1.” Whishaw replies, “Don’t forget season 2, darling.” They then open their gifts-matching bullets. They drop them in their champagne, where they fizz suggestively. This story will be updated.
